The Zeeuws Museum is a feast for the eyes. Its world-famous 16th-century tapestries, magnificent collections of porcelain and paintings, surprising presentations of fashion and regional costumes, and cabinets of rare treasures from Asia, Africa and South America offer new perspectives on the history of Zeeland. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum features innovative exhibitions that also present the collection in unexpected ways.

The Zeeuws Museum is located in the historic center of Middelburg. In the medieval abbey you will discover unexpected features of Zeeland: from archaeological finds and world-famous tapestries to regional costumes, paintings and exotic objects that people from Zeeland brought back from distant travels.

The diverse collection is the focus of innovative exhibitions that always relate to the here and now. The masterpieces of the Zeeuws Museum are the five tapestries made between 1593 and 1604 for the States of Zeeland. They depict the Zeeland struggle against the Spaniards at the time of the Eighty Years' War in vivid colors and to the smallest detail

Don't forget to taste the fresh local produce in the museum café during your visit. In the summer you can relax on the terrace on the atmospheric abbey square.

Original gifts from Zeeland are available in the museum shop.
