Peter & Paul Church

The 1846 Roman Catholic church on Lange Noordstraat was completely destroyed in the 1940 bombing. This church was not rebuilt, but a new church building arose nearby, designed by architect C.M. van Moorsel of The Hague. The robust brick building, built in the Bossche School style, harkens back to the basilica from the early Christian period.

The church was solemnly consecrated on July 5, 1951. There is a special chapel in the church building dedicated to Our Lady of the Polder, which contains a 16th-century panel depicting Mary.
