Molen De Hoop

De Hoop is a former corn and flour mill located at Vlissings Bolwerk in Middelburg. The mill probably owes its somewhat stout appearance to the fact that it was restored in 1755 after a fire. De Hoop was then presumably built lower, than it originally was. The mill continued to operate actively on the wind until 1920.

In 1940, De Hoop was again severely damaged. In 1954 the mill was restored as a stationary monument. Since 1988, an extensive restoration has allowed it to turn again. Something that on sporadic occasions is still done by millers.
