Dam Square

It's a convenient place to park downtown, but the Damplein is so much more than that!

The Damplein is a vivid reminder of Middelburg's mercantile past. A majestic row of old merchant houses surrounds the square, where fifty monuments tell their story. The Prins Hendrikdok, a dry dock dating from the 19th century, is located where the 16th-century harbor once ended. The most striking feature of Dam Square is the covered grain exchange, a replica of the original one from the 18th century. Also located here is the statue of Queen Emma.

A downtown spot where history and entertainment come together.
