When Felix Mendelssohn's talented sister Fanny dies in May 1847, his heart breaks. They had a musical soul relationship and a few months later Felix also dies. What only surfaces in our time is the high quality of Fanny's compositions. Ars Musica places her where she belongs: among the greats of her time, as well as among new work that sings independently of gender or social position.

Fanny was not given every opportunity to allow her musical talent to flourish publicly. That did not stop her from composing 460 works and also performing as a pianist, supported by her husband and brother Felix. Our narrator opens this world of perseverance for you through the letters Felix and Fanny wrote to each other.

Enjoy also the youthful vigor of pianist Nikola Meeuwsen who recently made his full-length solo debut at the Concertgebouw, or of Mieke Verduijn who graduated cum laude from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Felix Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 brings with it virtuosity!
