On Friday evening, March 14, the English Church in Middelburg welcomes for the first time Stichting Valreep from Vlissingen, known for its small-scale and impressive theater performances with a Zeeland background. This evening they bring a brand-new production with two powerful one-acts in which women play the leading roles: The Playground and The List.

The Playground

A recognizable scene: two women, Carla Jansen and Margje, sit next to each other on a bench in the playground. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. But their conversation takes an unexpected turn and has little to do with everyday topics such as the weather or grocery prices. The word "cozy" doesn't fit their conversation at all. And where are the children, anyway?

The List

Relationships can be lively and dynamic, but sometimes drudgery threatens. Veronica, the protagonist in The List, is a woman with a surprising plan. She doesn't just have a solution to her problem - she has a ruse. Divorce or run away? That would be too easy. What Veronica is up to is guaranteed to provoke thought.

Play: Wilma Selen and Irene Dingemanse
Text and direction: Rens Schot
