Over and over again, playwright Julika Marijn is touched by the diaries and letters of Jewish Etty Hillesum (1914-1943). Her oeuvre is a passionate plea for love and the beauty of life. With her search for inner freedom during the dark period of the war, her poetic language and relatable self-mockery, Etty's work is a lasting inspiration to millions of people worldwide. In the challenging times in which we now live, Etty's ideas are more topical than ever and of universal value.

In honor of eighty years of freedom, with Etty Hillesum - Dat onverwoestbare in mij, Julika is erecting a moving monument to this fearless woman who wanted to live life to the fullest and, despite everything, managed to keep her inner light burning.
