Special for children aged 3 to 6

On Saturday morning, December 21, the English Church in Middelburg invites you to a special Christmas performance: Gewoon Je Neus achterna.

In this 30-minute musical storytelling performance, Ireen Thomas brings to life the story of Christmas Eve in a completely original way. Especially for children aged 3 to 6, and their parents or grandparents, Donkey - interpreted by Ireen Thomas - takes the lead role in a heartwarming Christmas story full of surprises.

Together with her beautiful lute, Ireen Thomas takes you on a journey through centuries-old Christmas music, from the 2nd century to the 20th century. In an atmospheric interplay of music, images and text, Donkey, the omniscient narrator, recounts the famous night in Bethlehem.

  • How did Donkey Betje and Oswald the Ox experience the visit of Joseph and Mary?
  • What happened when the baby was born, and who were all those special visitors?

Ezel shares his age-old stories, passed down from generation to generation, with an entirely unique take on events.

This performance is about friendship and the gift of diversity, full of wonder and surprising discoveries. Donkey's open-minded perspective provides a fresh take on a familiar story, where humor, confusion and wonder go hand in hand.

Come enjoy this magical Christmas performance in the atmospheric setting of the Engelse Kerk. Don't miss it and immerse your children, and yourself, in a timeless Christmas story, full of music and imagination!
