Ring riding, as a traditional custom, has been around for centuries. In contrast to Zeeland, however, ring riding is falling into disuse in the rest of Europe. Mainly on the former Zeeland island of Walcheren, ring riding was preserved and to this day is still stabbed to the ring here in the original way.
